Clinical Commissioning Groups assume responsibility for commissioning General Practice

NHS Stafford and Surrounds CCG have assumed responsibility for commissioning General Practice in the area. We assumed responsibility for “delegated commissioning” from 1 April 2017.

Delegated commissioning refers to the process whereby CCGs are granted greater powers to directly commission primary medical services. This includes contractual GP performance management and budget management. However, it excludes all functions relating to individual GP performance management. It also excludes the commissioning of dental community pharmacy and eye health services. These services will be retained by NHS England.
