The Together We’re Better health and care partnership for Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent will be holding its first Suicide Prevention Conference on Friday 30 November.
At the event, Together We’re Better partner organisations will be signing the Zero Suicide Charter, which sets out the aim to have zero suicides in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent from 2019 onwards.
As well as health and care professionals, representatives from local schools, universities, police, fire and the voluntary sector will be in attendance alongside Councillor Lillian Dodd, the Lord Mayor of Stoke-on-Trent.
Among the key speakers at this important event will be a group of survivors who will be talking about their personal experiences and are happy to be interviewed by members of the media.
Other topics covered on the day will include mental health in schools and the impact of suicide on our local families. The Staffordshire and Stoke-On-Trent Suicide Prevention Network will also provide an update on their latest action plan, while local creative arts group Man Up will be performing.
Local media are warmly invited to attend the conference to interview survivors, senior health and care leaders in attendance and to take photos of the signing of the Suicide Charter.
