The Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent CCGs are aware of so-called mass gatherings planned for this weekend, and strongly urge people not to attend.
The advice is quite clear. You should stay at home as much as possible and limit contact with other people.
Mass gatherings run the risk of spreading the virus, causing unnecessary deaths, and reversing all the progress made so far. Police have the powers to disperse mass gatherings.
Please do not be tempted to attend, and please take your advice on Coronavirus from the NHS and not anonymous posts on social media.
Dr Lorna Clarson a GP and Chair of Stoke-on-Trent CCG says, “As a GP I am really concerned about the plans for mass gatherings on social media.
“The numbers of infections in Stoke-on-Trent are still rising and we are seeing more admissions to hospital with Coronavirus than we have before, this is not the time to ignore the advice to stay at home as much as possible.
“I would urge the people of Stoke-on-Trent and surrounding areas not to participate in these gatherings and to stay at home and enjoy any good weather with your household at home.”
