Podcast marks Diabetes Week and how services are coping in pandemic

Today marks the start of Diabetes Week (Monday June 8 – Sunday June 14).

In the UK, one in 15 of us live with diabetes – that’s around 80,000 people in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.

The week is marked in Episode 9 of the podcast series from Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent CCGs. Andy Downton talks to Sarah Orme, Diabetes Clinical Lead at Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (MPFT).

Sarah talks about what diabetes is, the warning signs and how you can manage it. She also describes the way in which diabetes nurses have been helping support people with diabetes during the Coronavirus pandemic.

MPFT have also created a website where people can go for help and advice about diabetes during the pandemic, and Diabetes UK have a diabetes helpline (0345 123 2399) to advise those who need help with insulin.
